Whole Foods Market is recalling Trois Comtois Morbier cheese in Mid Atlantic, Southwest, Northern California, Southern Pacific and Midwest regions in the US as it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The product associated with the recall is Trois Comtois Morbier cheese that was labeled as Morbier Raw Milk, Morbier AOC Le Trois, Morbier Raw Milk French Cheese, Morbier Raw Milk and Morbier Les Trois Comtois.

The recalled Trois Comtois Morbier comes in wheels approximately 11 lbs. each, which are then cut and wrapped in varying weights and are labeled with a Whole Foods Market scale label.

The recall, which has been issued in response to a recall by Trois Comtois in Poligny, France, includes all best by dates of the product. Whole Foods Market is one of many retailers affected by this recall, as the product is also purchased by grocery stores, restaurants, and individual mail orders.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the recall. Whole Foods noted that signage has been posted in all Whole Foods Market Mid Atlantic, Southwest, Northern California, Southern Pacific and Midwest stores to notify customers of this recall.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are advised to dispose or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause illness in certain groups of people, including pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, and anyone with reduced immunity, particularly the over-60s.
