Optare, the manufacturer and seller of single deck and double deck buses and mini coaches, has received four incremental 120kW drive systems from Enova Systems, which will be incorporated into their Solo Electric Bus.

The company has selected Enova's production drive systems for its fleet of all electric buses.

Mike Staran, Enova President and CEO said, "Despite the industry downturn, Enova continues to ship product to core and incremental customers.

"We will continue this path as well as mature other initiatives that are intended to improve distribution channels."

UK Government has approved GBP 101m package of enhancements which will provide more eco-friendly buses on the roads, reduced congestion and revamped services.

The Solo EV model is based on a standard 27-seat Solo, features a top speed of about to 90kmph, while generating zero tailpipe emissions, it delivers a mileage of around 110-130km on a full charge.

The buses will be similar to standard diesel powered bus while offering smoother, quieter and cleaner ride.
